Reviews
Description
Gross Margin Analysis
Slide Content
The slide presents a "Gross Margin Analysis" using a Waterfall Chart Template to illustrate factors impacting GM (Gross Margin) deviation from the budget. The analysis begins with a Budgeted GM of $500 million and shows declines due to Lower Revenue (-$40 million), Unfavorable Product Mix (-$60 million), and Higher COGS (Cost of Goods Sold, -$59 million), partially offset by More Discounts (+$70 million), culminating in an Actual GM of $271 million.
Graphical Look
- The slide title "Gross Margin Analysis" is prominently displayed at the top in large, bold lettering with a subtitle beneath it.
- A blue Waterfall chart to the left visually represents the decrease and increase in Gross Margin with labeled bars. Negative values are shown in dark blue, and positive values in light blue.
- The chart has annotations for Budgeted GM, Lower Revenue, Unfavorable Product Mix, Higher COGS, More Discounts, and Actual GM at the base of each respective bar.
- On the right side, there are four blue text boxes associated with icons, each indicating a factor affecting Gross Margin: a downwards arrow for Lower Revenue, three overlaid circles for Unfavorable Product Mix, a hand holding coins for Higher COGS, and a percentage sign in a cogwheel for More Discounts.
- Each text box has a placeholder for additional descriptions and explanations.
The slide uses a cohesive blue color palette with varying shades to distinguish different elements. The clear, structured layout combines visual data representation and text boxes effectively for an informative presentation.
Use Cases
- Presenting financial results to stakeholders, illustrating variances between projected and actual figures.
- During a business review meeting to analyze the factors contributing to gross margin changes.
- For internal discussions with the finance team to understand areas for cost improvement or pricing strategy.
