Reviews
Description
Forming Stage of Team Development Dynamics
Slide Content
The slide presents the 'Forming Stage of Team Development Dynamics' based upon Tuckman's model of group development. This concept illustrates that a team progresses through various stages—Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, and Adjourning. Forming represents the initial stage where the team meets and learns about the opportunities and challenges they will face. Storming is characterized by conflict and competition as team members start to assert their personalities. During the Norming phase, rules and structure are established, leading to unity. In Performing, the team finally functions effectively and focuses on achieving goals. Adjourning, sometimes also called Mourning, marks the dissolution of the team after the project's completion.
Graphical Look
- A curved arrow from left to right representing the team development process, with symbols and text labels for each stage.
- Five circular icons with symbols on them corresponding to each stage of development: a leaf icon for Forming, a lightning bolt for Storming, three figures for Norming, a megaphone for Performing, and a door with an arrow for Adjourning.
- A vertical axis on the left labeled "Effectiveness" with a gradient scale, presumably to represent the progression of team effectiveness over time.
- A horizontal axis at the bottom labeled "Time," indicating the temporal aspect of the process.
- A colored text box on the right with the title FORMING in capital letters, detailing the specific stage, includes bullet points for additional descriptions.
- A dark line connecting each stage, creating a visualization of the progression through stages.
The slide has a clean and professional aesthetic with blue and gray color tones. Icons and text are used effectively to convey the developmental path of a team.
Use Cases
- Introducing the concept of team development stages during a management training or leadership workshop.
- Kickstarting a discussion on team dynamics in a team-building activity or meeting.
- A part of change management presentation to set expectations on how team performance will evolve.
- Briefing project teams about expected interpersonal dynamics and challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
